The eruption of Mt. Pinatubo in 1991 placed the Philippines in the limelight when it killed almost 800 people and left 100,000 people homeless. The millions of tons of sulfur dioxide that was discharged to the atmosphere resulted in the decrease of temperatures worldwide for the next few years. Remarkable sunrise and sunsets were visible around the globe in the years following the eruption. (About.com:Geography)
Today, Mt. Pinatubo is fast becoming a tourist attraction and is providing livelihood to the residents of Sta. Juliana, Capas, Tarlac.
